Innovation Generation is an initiative that gives Central Ohio high school students the access they need to develop skills that are essential for today’s fastest-growing jobs.
As part of central Ohio’s Pathways to Prosperity Network—a network established in nine states—we assemble high school, college and work-based experiences so that students graduate with economically viable career credentials. In addition, students get a head start on postsecondary studies. Preparing today’s students for postsecondary success is important to us and to Ohio’s workforce.

In this program, you will:

Develop industry-specific learning while earning college credit
Work towards an associate’s degree and beyond!
Receive education and training that leads to marketable industry specific certificates
Prepare for highly skilled jobs that require credentials, and gain alternative career options

The demand for jobs The future employment landscape is changing. Over the past 25 years, Ohio’s economy has experienced an unprecedented transformation. Once sustained by traditional labor industries, we increasingly depend on knowledge based and service related enterprises. Almost 60 percent of industries will require a post secondary degree or credential by 2020. We are here to help fill this void with qualified young professionals upon graduation from high school.

No cost to enroll* A $14.4 million award from the Ohio Board of Education’s Straight A Fund grant finances the Innovation Generation initiative. Gov. Kasich established this grant in 2013, and all expenses for the development of these pathway programs will be financed through this grant.

There is no charge for students to participate in the program* A $14.4 million award from the Ohio Board of Education’s Straight A Fund grant finances the Innovation Generation initiative. Gov. Kasich established this grant in 2013, and all expenses for the development of these pathway programs will be financed through this grant. Under our funding terms, all programs must be sustainable without additional funding after the grant finances have been exhausted. Because the entire cost of the initiative will be borne by the Straight A Fund grant, it will not impact the tax base of local school districts.
